Constructive Feedback, After the storm, the Federal government was not letting cars in. Did you forget?

Before the storm, poor folks felt they could stick it out, they had done it many times over the years, or didnot have transportation.

It's easy to say we are our brotha's keeper. But the fact of the matter is, big brotha, government of the people, we the people, we are the government, we the tax payer are suppose to take care of those with less.
When a disaster is coming, do not arrange a public evacuation. Rely only on individual resources. People with cars and money for hotels will leave.
Was there anything particularly magical about what a few "government helicopters" could do as compared to what several thousand cars that had EMPTY SEATS could not? What happened to the notion of "your brother's keeper" in which people with a car and an empty seat could drive to a community where they knew people were in need of a means of evacuation and provide assistance?

Power post Free Slave, Power Post. Reading this post, over and over again made me angry. the chain of events are truly an American disgrace. The New Orleans experiment will go down in American history as another great white experiment like the Tuskegee experiment or the 1921, Tulsa (Black Wall Street) race Riots in which whites burned thirty-five square blocks of homes and businesses and over 300 black folks were murdered and raped, in the name of god and country.

I've always wondered how my grandparents truly handled American Apartheid, Jim Crow, and the segregation of the races by American's, supported by the United States (extreme) Supreme court, and backed by the a racist Congress and President's.

The white Tulsa riots happened just a about 10 years before my mother was born.

I guess, those of us living in America today truly know how they dealt with it. The question is will we deal with it any differently, or will America's brutal history towards people of African descent repeat itself, again, and again, and again.

Thanks for the post Free Slave. It should cause us all to think.

This was on point! I don't think there is anything left to add. Except maybe if there was a step 34, it would be let the congressman representing the area be a corrupt SOB!
