As for his house, my uncle donated 400,000 to his church last year. The church has 8,000 members. Many are well-endowed. Wright is nationally known. He is a prominent minister. My friend attended the church and the inspiration from Wright and the congregation is why she is who she is today. Yet Name 4 things seems to think that he is fooling his parishoners!!!

He spent 35 years aiding his community in every way possible. He is not like so many churches in the black community which have lost their way. His church is the last of the good churches. Much of Obama's message is appropriated from Wright. I know this since I am familar with Wright. Yet Wright is so horrible.

He has no hatred for whites there you go with what the white corporate media presents to you. No wonder blacks are so confused, they have not a shred of independent thought.

The buffoons are the blacks who continue to bend over for the establishment!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not quite sure why I am going to take you seriously but I will tell you this MUCH!!!

You dont know Wright at all, you do not. You are basing your assumptions on what has been dictated to you by the establishment.

You have no basis for anyhting you just said. No basis whatsoever but you will spit your bile because you think you know. How unfortunate. How unfortunate.

The buffoons are all the negroes who for years have denied truth for self-interest.

Wright speaks truth all the time and the reason why all of you are mad because he said what was on his mind when he was put in front of the establishment that he was supposed to bow in front of.

Wright has done more for his community than Obama.

I still am confused to the heavens as to why people are judging a man based on what the white corporate media has presented.

Idiots! I said It!!

Obama did not dump Wright, until Wright dismissed him as "just another politician". Up to that point, he defended him publicly. He said, "I can no more distance myself from my church, than I can distance myself from the black community."
I agree with Anonymiss, that he is a selfish buffoon, and that he should know better. And as far as his "ruined" life goes, his church is currently building a $1.6 million dollar home for him, in a 98% white neighborhood. If his distrust of whites is so great, why in the world would he wish to live surrounded by them?
I am not a Wright fan, obviously. But the duplicity some of you accuse Obama of having, is even more evident in Wright, and Wright is not even a politician. He's just another screaming preacher taking advantage of his parishioners. If that were not true, his church would not have to take out a mortgage, in order to build his home.
I am hoping that Barack Obama is elected, and I believe that if that happens, there will be some positive change for us. I know that won't be possible so long as black people continue the crabs in a barrel strategy.

Yea blacks should sit down and shut up. What you saw as George Jefferson buffoonery, I saw as someone who refused to bow to the white establishment. Someone who resfused to say jump when they say jump, someone who refused to sit when they said sit.

I never agree with Shelby Steele but when he outlined the difference between "bargainer" being Obama versus a challenger, he made sense. A challenger is someone like Wright who comes with the whole truth because he needs nothing from those that he is confronting. Obama on the other hand must bargain with him by denying reality and lying by omission in order to win over their allegiance. A bargainer does very little in the way of change. I am an Obama supporter but I realized that from day one. The man has restrictions and limitations because he is running as a black man in these racist states.

I have never heard anybody breakdown the true meaning and history of the black church in American society in that fashion in my life! Mabye it was foreign to many black people who remain ignorant to their own history and traditions. Or mabye just mabye they continue to jump up and down in those flashy no substance churches with the likes of Creflo Dollar or the many other churches who are isolated and closed off to the community. Wright and his church chose to follow in the prophetic tradition of the black church. From the social gospel, that is a black church tradition for 200 years, to the community work and service. He also has positioned the church through an African and African American lens rather than a European. The church instills pride in one's self.

I could hear a pindrop from black people in the community from even before his appearance. I will no longer have respect for any of these black people who also came out to condemn him.

Spike Lee slammed him for not bending over like Barack for the white establishment. However Spike Lee, even as recently as this last Cannes Fil Festival refuses to do so. He had said in an interview once (back when I used to intern at 40 acres) that "white people could kiss his ass if they don't like what he makes or says"....wow aren't those strong words. He continues to make enemies within Hollywood because he is known to not mince his words. However he is in the position to tell a black man what he can and cannot say and do in front of whites. When has Spike Lee ever done that. When he comes under attack for his films he goes crazy! Trust me! Yet Wright should sit back and shut up about the pretty much worldwide demonization of who he is, his church and his name. Not one did Obama step up last year of at anytime to protect his church from the "cult" smears or anything. He allowed it to go on. So when people choose to defend themselves...it becomes their own right.

My list also includes Russell "I love Farrakhan. Louis Farrakahn is the truth" Simmons, Michael "Wright is a kook who over blows the issue of race" Myers, who is the exec. dir. of a Civil Rights orgainization here in NY...CIVIL RIGHTS!, Al "Opportunist, Picks the Wrong Battles" Sharpton etc etc...

Black people refused to defend this man but when he steps out they jump. Sharpton refused to defend him on television. He merely kind of showing understanding. Where is all that mouth! All that fight!

We allow white people to slam and play Willie Lynch on us and we allow it. We never fight back.

Nobody is talking about the edited and cut PBS interview. Wright was actually suprisingly calm during that interview. I know the man. He is actually very expressive and even theatrical. This is often what makes him so intriguing and entertaining to many. However it is also what makes him unattractive to many others.

Wright is a challenger who refuses to compromise ( like blacks have been doing for 400 years). I will not particapate in the onslaught of bargaining opportunist ignorance that is usally dispelled from the black community

I will merely watch to see where the chips fall. All I could say for Wright whose life has been destroyed is that, keep your head up! Never look in Obama or his family's direction! Don't help another black person because they are obviously utterly ungrateful! Don't make another appearance because people hate you and they will just distort what you are saying, lie and be deceitful! Congratualtions on your retirement that it is offical on May 31st!

Look out Rev.Otis Moss III, you may just be next....

Asa, Fantastic work here. Barack Obama is one man running for the Presidency of the United States. For some reason, peopel are under the impression that the president alone can effect change. This is confounding. The men that set this form of government up were supposedly attempting to avoid this formation of a "savior king" in that office. Yet the "educated" (whatever that means) fall right into the belief that the president is just this. Barack Obama cannot alone make a change. And those that fall for such rhetorical bull do not have obviously not been "educated" in the workings of this government system that we choose to live under. Barack is not changer, if he were he would not be running for this position.

I still can't bring myself to fully accept Barack Obama. I was on the fence before the whole Rev Wright situation but after he basically through him to the dogs, that was it for me.

For so long we've had to work in such a way that makes others feel comfortable. We hold ourselves back so that they can accept us. And I'm just tired of it. For him to outright denounce the man who clearly meant alot to him just for the sake of making history, it doesn't sit right with me. I know it would be a great thing but at what costs?

To co-sign on this, I watched a Video Clip -The Real News - I think it is called. Did interviews with W VA people. They just plain rejected him, because he was black, no other reasons. They claimed to not have heard of him, not knowing what he stood for. Some were honest enough to admit they just didn't want a black person as president.

The "change" campaign is a marvelous thing. Alot of people get it and are on-board. Many don't and aren't. That's the hard truth. Many people who vote Democrat - the blue-collar, hard working Americans, don't want change. They want something more "traditional" or familiar...White leadership, a White political savior -- who will fix their problems for them.

As liberal as Barack is labelled, he is inspiring and encouraging people to do something for themselves, their communities. Very JFK-like. Yes, the gov't will leverage some funding and infrastructure (that's the liberal part), but he is calling for Americans to get civically involved at many levels. Poor, under-educated people (of any color) may not be ready for such a dramatic turn.

The Dems work is cut out for them. They've got to show & tell such resistant Americans that voting Democrat is in their best interest and voting Republican (for the sake of comfort and familiarity) only undoes them -- economically, especially.
