El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz: 19 May 1925 – 21 February 1965
Although I missed the anniversary of the death of Malcom X, I still feel obliged to pay him homage. Next to Jesus Christ and Rev. Martin Luther King, he influenced me in becoming the man I am today. I think I have read “The Autobiography of Malcolm X” by Alex Haley at least 3 times. His whole life is an example and an inspiration for always standing up for what you believe in, as well as charting a new course when you come to a deeper level of understanding.

“I always had a deep affection for Malcolm and felt that he had a great ability to put his finger on the existence and the root of the problem. He was an eloquent spokesman for his point of view and no one can honestly doubt that Malcolm had a great concern for the problems we face as a race.” Rev. Martin Luther King.

I also shared a deep affection for Malcolm X. The passion with which he spoke, believed and acted is undeniable. One thing I hate the most is the fact that we as a race have been unable to truly build a center/facility on the level of the MLK Center in Atlanta in his name to tell his story which is one that all Americans could learn from and all African Americans should learn and learn from.
Malcom X doubted the positive good of racial intergration like most of the White people of his era. For a long time Mr. Shabazz was quite racist. By the end of his life he reformed. Would any White former racist be a good role model for youth? I love many things about the man but much of his writings and message came while he was in the Nation of Islam. Farrakhan critisized Malcom at the time but he praises Obama. I respect Farrakhan less than Malcom.
I think President Obama is going to greatly outshine the icons of Malcom X and MlK. Obama represents true tangible change and Black power. History will largly forget these two leaders in light of the presedent of the United States. The kind of interracial power which Obama currently uses to Help African Americans is a much better role model than the passions of a former racist.

Long live the Beige Revolution!!!!
Malcolm X dwarfs Obama and always will when it comes to being an amazing role model of growth and fierce honesty. Obama will always outshine Malcolm among those bewitched by symbolic representations of power rather than power itself. And because he is beholden to the forces that needed Malcolm dead, Obama will be remembered far more kindly in the white man’s history books and by his propaganda machine.
Better get our own…oh wait, that’s why we have the AfroSpear.
To say that Malcolm X was “racist” is to totally miscomprehend the meaning of the word.
Thanks for this post and especially the video.
“Malcolm X dwarfs Obama and always will when it comes to being an amazing role model of growth and fierce honesty.”
This so very true. And yet, not too long ago, I received a comment on my blog about Malcolm X being an advocate of violence against white people. The negative spin on Malcolm X’s life continues to this very day. The very champion of honesty and the black community is slandered by the propaganda machine of the establishment.
Peace
I like the words he used “by any means necessary”!
The Nation of Islams doctrines were quite racist when Malcolm one of their mouthpieces. However I do like some of the Ideas of The Nation of Islam. They are for Washington D.C. statehood and for African Americans controling the power of the southern United states. It was a deep political revalation to understand that when Black people control the Goverorship and the seanator seats of one state then they would be closer to tangible perminant political power. Mississippi could be the first Black majority state or Washington D.C. if the Democrats and Obama tackle this issue.
Obama has been in Office less than 40days and he is in charge of spending 1 trillion dollars on programs he desires. This is more than any person in history! He is taking from the rich to give to the less fortunate. That is far from symbolism of power of any other Black leader. Obama has control of the CIA, FBI and the IRS. The KKK are in terror of Obamas symbolic power. He is the most feared Black man that has ever lived and racist dread the thought of this real African, U.S. president.
Far from sybolic, everyday Obama lives he increaces interracial power
