Of course the black image is suppose to represent the first black president. Anyone who believes other wise is in denial. Obama should get the same respect as any of the other white president because he has broken barriers no other president could ever break. He has given hope to the black and minority population in this country. If someone says something or do something offensive at least own up to it instead of pretending you’re completely incident. I feel like the people that are acting inappropriately are the ones that know they can get away with the acts.

I am in agreement with your assessment of the Republican party. And the Democratic party of the late 20th century is a far cry from what it was during the civil war.

It is a perverse twist of fate that the party that was supposed to be the northern voice of reason against the ultra-conservative hedgemony of the south at that time (1850′s) has turned into such an ugly, exclusive tent.

But I do wish to point out to you that there is a method to this disgusting madness. IN every case of pointed racism or bigoty coming out of the GOP, it is being propagated by practical unknowns who work for powerful GOP movers and shakers is very, very safe RED congressional (or state) districts, almost exclusively from the south. In other words, this is a well organized proxy war with the intent of damaging the black community in order to damage the current sitting president, for whom I as a white american proudly voted and will do so again in 4 years.
